The Smart Smart Home Handbook Published Today
After leaving my words and images in the good hands of the team at ilex / Octopus publishing, it’s exciting to know that, as of today, people will be able to get their hands on it in stores.
Writing the book was an arduous task because I didn’t want it to be a collection of articles in praise of exciting new technology. We can all get excited about new technology, after all. Instead I wanted to offer a glimpse into what is truly needed to set up and live with a smart home so readers could – for less than the price of a single smart bulb – decide what, if any, smart tech would actually make their life easier.
I believe that’s what I’ve done, though obviously I’m more than happy to listen to feedback.
At the same time I’m also excited to get this site up and running – it is intended to be something of a companion to the book – so I can write about the latest gear in a more product-specific way.
As of now, broadly, that is the distinction. Here I will look at products, in the book I deal with product categories, key features, and the ecosystems that you need to work with them.
